Inflatable penile prosthesis surgery involves the insertion of an inflatable cylinder, which can expand and contract, into the erectile tissue of the penis. A pump is placed in the scrotum, and a reservoir containing saline solution is implanted in the lower abdomen near the pelvic bone. By operating the adjustable pump within the scrotum, an immediate erection can be achieved. This method replicates the natural process of erection and is currently considered the most advanced surgical treatment for erectile dysfunction.
