Circumcision

Circumcision is a surgical procedure that involves the partial removal of the foreskin surrounding the glans of the penis. It is a form of genital plastic surgery where the foreskin covering the glans is permanently removed, leaving the glans exposed. The public opinion on circumcision is controversial, and it’s important to note that the decision to undergo circumcision is not mandatory.

However, there are cases where circumcision becomes necessary. Who are the individuals that may require it?

Do I Need Circumcision?

If you do not experience any issues related to disease or hygiene, circumcision is not necessary. However, there are certain cases where circumcision may be considered for hygiene and cleanliness purposes:

True Phimosis this condition occurs when the foreskin does not fully retract and covers a portion of the glans, especially when the penis is erect.

Pseudo-Phimosis is characterized by the foreskin normally covering the glans, and even during an erection, only a part of the glans is exposed and must be manually pulled down.

Phimosis Phimosis refers to a condition where the foreskin’s opening is narrow, causing pain and swelling when attempting to retract it manually.

Note

In general, when the glans is covered by the foreskin, there is a structural problem that can lead to the accumulation of foreign substances.

This can pose risks such as balanitis, adhesion of the foreskin to the glans, urinary tract infections, and potential negative effects on sexual partners. Hence, circumcision may be necessary in these cases.

This method is suitable for both children and adults.

This approach results in shorter incisions, less pain, and a faster recovery period. By removing only, the necessary amount of foreskin, the risk of damage to blood vessels is minimized, and the chances of inflammation are reduced.
